We don't know exactly when it happened, but Hatland has become an indispensable accessory for thousands of people across Europe. It is the hat or cap you take with you on adventures and while making a hike or bike ride. Our hats are for enthusiasts and with proper care, the product can last a long time and remain beautiful for a long period of time. With proper maintenance, you can extend the life of your hat. We have listed 4 maintenance and cleaning tips for you.
Cleaning dust and dirt
A straw hat can be wiped with a damp cloth. To clean a felt hat, use a soft brush (a hard brush can make the felt rough and ugly). Start on the left side of the hat and brush counterclockwise to the back of the hat, all the way around. This way, you will prevent the felt from becoming rough and ugly.
Rain
If your felt hat gets wet, turn down the sweatband and place the hat on it so that it dries in its natural shape. Do not place the wet hat on the hat brim, this will cause the hat to lose its original shape. Note: Never use a hair dryer, radiator, lamp or car window to dry the hat; the combination of heat and perspiration can shrink the sweatband.
Water and oil stains
Water and or oil stains can be cleaned with a little talcum powder or corn starch. Note: Never use liquid cleaners as this can damage the felt. If this does not work, apply the hat.
